Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering – Science & Technology Entrepreneurs Park (SJCE-STEP), is one among the premier institutions in India, which was established during 1988, in the campus of SJCE, a leading Engineering College, with the support of Dept. of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, Industrial Development Bank of India, Dept. of Science & Technology, Govt. of Karnataka, and Dept. of Industries & Commerce, Govt. of Karnataka.It is one of the first 3 STEPs which have been accredited as the BEST STEP among the 14 STEPs established throughout the country. Over a period of its existence, it has evolved in bringing up several methodologies to develop new entrepreneurs and support the existing entrepreneurs.Based on its rich experiences, UNESCO has identified, STEP as a Nodal Centre for organizing seminar on “Entrepreneurial Engineering Design and Product Development Facilities in Technical Institutions”, an event, wherein 11 of the South East Asian countries participated. The Director of SJCE-STEP was identified to be the Advisor for establishing similar initiative measures for Universitie Technogie Malaysia (UTM), Malaysia.
Its main focus is on development of technocrat entrepreneurs by providing managerial and technological inputs. It has been recognized by industries as, an institution which provides human resource development support to their professionals through Continuing Education and Training programs.
SJCE-STEP has been identified as a base for Indian STEP Association, which is promoting networking amongst all STEP’s in India and Science Parks across the globe, notably in the UK, the USA, Malaysia and Austria. It is now, spearheading the vision of making STEP into movement that would spread among SAARC nations, for an effort that would lead to a multitude of technology based enterprises with higher value with the additional capabilities.
